Chiefly Thoughts

Brothers,

We have a unique and once in a lifetime experience amongst us: a chance to partake in the biggest service project our country has ever seen. What is this opportunity? Something I am sure most of you have heard about, ArrowCorps5. This is service project involves the help of 5,000 Arrowmen, over 5 different sites, in a 5 week time frame. The sites, which are spread out all over the country, include Mark Twain, Manti-La Sal, George Washington & Jefferson, Shasta-Trinity, and Bridger-Teton. All the background information you will need for this event can be found at http://www.event.oa-bsa.org. I encourage all of you to visit this web site and get to know more about the program sites coming up this summer.

For this project to work, however, we need the help of every lodge. Lodges have been assigned an amount of people they must recruit for Arrowcorps5 to make the program a success. This amount is referred to as the council and lodge's Trailblazer status. I know that every lodge in our section can reach these numbers, and I would like to extend help wherever and whenever anyone needs it. The section staff agrees with me when I say that we want this program to be as much of a success as possible, so if we work together, we can make this happen and really pull off the biggest service project in the US.

From working on the national staff to set up program for the event, I have seen first hand the amazing ideas and values our program will instill in our Arrowmen, as well as people throughout the country. Not only will people be able to do meaningful service, but they will take from the project a memory that will never be lost. Whether that be through meeting new friends, falling in love with the site, program, and the Order, or just seeing what really matters in life. All of these are the great things we hope everyone will experience at Arrowcorps5 this summer.

Please sign up for your desired site and begin paving your own path to a life of Cheerful Service.

ArrowCorps5 is not the only outstanding program running this summer; don't forget about the famous NE-3B section Conclave too! It will be held August 15-17, 2008 at Camp Tuscarora in Windsor, NY. Otahnagon Lodge will hosting the event and going off what has already been planned I can safely say that this conclave will be one you always remember. Each lodge is working very hard planning their portion of the event, coming up with a lot of brand new and inspiring program ideas. The theme for this year's conclave is Lucky 7's: Seven Lodges United. We are really pushing this theme this year, because it means so much more to our section with our push to bring our seven lodges closer and really unite our section to become one cohesive unit. I ask for every Arrowmen's support in this undertaking, let us truly understand what the Order of the Arrow is all about while having a great time at the 2008 Section NE-3B conclave.

Yours in Service,

Dan Higham
Section NE-3B Chief
